I was going to write today about keeping your brain sharp – but I forgot what I was going to say!  Seriously, there are ways you can improve your memory and prevent cognitive decline.  An active brain produces new connections between nerve cells. 

 Some ways to create new pathways in the brain – learn to play a musical instrument, start a new hobby, learn a foreign language or  just simply read.  Crossword puzzles, Sudoku and brain teasing games also give your brain a great work-out

Other ways that you can literally exercise your mind are:  SOCIALIZE – wards off depression and stress;  ORGANIZE – clutter creates chaos, making it even more difficult to remember things.  Write down grocery lists, schedules of appointments and “to do” lists and keep them in the same place;  FOCUS – as we age, we have less ability to multitask.  Focus on one thing and limit distractions.
