Laborless Labor Day Food

Well friends, another holiday weekend is upon us and Labor Day is one of our favorites! Why, you ask? First and foremost, it is a celebration of the fact that YOU have worked your tush off, and YOU deserve a holiday honoring that all that hard work! Secondly, we get a break from the daily grind and have the perfect excuse to celebrate…so let’s have a party and eat, drink and be merry! Whether you’re heading to the beach, lake, pool, backyard BBQ, picnic, or just the couch in your mom’s basement, Gordo’s has the perfect recipes to spice up your Labor Day eating frenzy.

Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip


  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese
  • 1 16 oz. tub HOT Gordo’s Cheese Dip
  • 1/2 cup ranch or blue cheese dressing
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup bottled buffalo sauce depending on how spicy you like it


Melt cream cheese and Gordo’s Cheese Dip in bowl in microwave for 2 minutes until melted.  Stir in chicken, dressing and hot sauce.  Pour mix into a greased 8 x 8 oven safe baking dish.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.  Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, kettle cooked potato chips, crackers or bread.

BEHOLD, the undeniable tastiness of the Avocado Deviled Egg!



  • 8 eggs, hardboiled
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/3 cup Gordo’s Cheese Dip
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • salt and pepper
  • cayenne pepper to taste

Hard boil your eggs. Remove shells, cut each egg in half lengthwise, and scoop out yolks. Reserve yolks in a bowl to the side. Peel and pit your avocado and add it to your bowl of yolks. Use a handheld blender or a food processor to puree together until smooth and creamy if desired. Add cold Gordo’s Cheese Dip, bacon bits, lemon, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix. Scoop into the middle of each egg white. Sprinkle with a bit of cayenne pepper and seasoned salt and enjoy! Keep them covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Finally…this brings us to DESSERT! If you’re anything like me, you will go into an immediate panic when someone asks you to make a dessert for the party. Yes, desserts are delicious, yes, I want them at the party, and yes, I will eat them. Am I skilled at making desserts? Let’s just say that baking in my house consists of slicing pre-made cookie dough, throwing it on a baking sheet and hoping I don’t forget to set the timer. But once again, Gordo’s has your back for the Labor Day festivities.

  • 1 container Gordo’s Original Cheese Dip
  • 3 sticks butter or margarine – softened to room temperature
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt cheese dip and add to softened butter.  Cream together with sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.  Add eggs, one at a time until thoroughly mixed.  Slowly add flour and mix until all is incorporated.  Pour into a greased Bundt or tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.  Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out on serving plate.
