Fill up for the Super Bowl

Screen Shot 2016-01-26 at 3.42.48 PMWith winter storm Jonas coming to an end, our minds start to shift from stocking up for
the harsh weather to stocking up for the big game ahead. We are kicking off the fight for your right to party… for your favorite team heading into Super Bowl 50. Even if your home team won’t be on the field, you still get to spend the next two weeks planning the Super Bowl party that everyone will be talking about until next year.

That’s where we come in. Here’s the gameplan:

Now there is never a main dish, so to speak, for any football party but you’ve still got to keep your guests full for the game. The traditional appetizers are great for any party but involve you getting up to make a plate during all those great commercials and no one wants to miss those. The solution? Make some killer cross breeds between appetizers and main dishes so you can watch more of the game and get up less (because if you know anything about watching football, walking in front of the TV during a big play is like telling a girl she does look fat in those jeans….you just don’t do it). Of course we are talking about sliders! They are easy to make and they are guaranteed to keep those hungry football fans in their seats, or at least on the edge of them!

Ham and Cheese Sliders

Poppy seed sauce:

  • 1 Tablespoon poppyseeds
  • 1½ Tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

How to Prepare

Slice Hawaiian rolls in halves. Place a slice of ham and ½ Tablespoon Gordo’s Cheese Dip inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together. In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Just use enough to cover the tops. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 4-6 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve warm.

Hamburger Sliders

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 container Gordo’s Cheese Dip
  • 12 dinner rolls

How to Prepare

Preheat oven to 375° F. In a large bowl, combine hamburger meat, onion, seasoning salt and pepper. Press mixture evenly in the bottom of an un-greased 9×13 in baking dish. Bake, uncovered for roughly 25 minutes, depending on how you like your meat cooked. Remove from oven and then carefully pour out the grease in the pan. Place ½ Tablespoon Gordo’s Cheese Dip over the top of meat. Place back in oven for 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Cut meat into 12 equal size squares. Place each square of meat in the center of dinner roll. Top with your favorite cheeseburger condiments!

Buffalo Chicken Sliders

  • 1 (12oz) bottle Frank’s Wing Sauce
  • 1 (1oz) package Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 12 slider buns
  • 1 container mild Gordo’s Cheese Dip

How to Prepare

Place chicken, wing sauce and Ranch dressing mix in slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 4-6 hours.  Remove chicken from slow cooker and shred. Return to slow cooker and cook on LOW for an additional 30 minutes. When ready to served, top half of buns with chicken and ½ Tablespoon Gordo’s Cheese Dip.

Philly Cheese Steak Sliders

  • 1 package of hot dog buns
  • 1 box thinly sliced steak (found in frozen food section)
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • ½ container Gordo’s Cheese Dip
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

How to Prepare

Preheat oven to 350°F. Separate the tops and bottoms of your buns and place the bottoms in an 11″ x 7″ casserole dish. Cook the steak meat in a skillet, adding salt and pepper to taste. Place the steak aside. Sauté the pepper and onions until they are tender. Spread the steak, peppers and onions evenly over the bottom pieces of bread in the casserole dish. Drizzle of melted Gordo’s Cheese Dip over the peppers and onions. Place the top pieces of bread on top of the cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 2 minutes. Cut and serve as whole bun or cut in half for smaller portions.
