Red, White & Blue: Patriotic Food for Your July 4th
Tuesday, June 30, 2015
If Gordo’s claimed a national holiday, it would be the Fourth of July, for sure. I mean c’mon — the explosion of flavor, our patriotic colors (hello, Hot and Original), and the taste of freedom you experience with each and every star-spangled bite… Liberty and Gordo’s for all? I think SO! Ok, so we might be slightly biased here. But if you’ve had the chance to savor any of our Gordo’s Cheese Dip flavors, we bet you’ll agree.
If you’re like countless of other Americans, you’re probably headed to a cook-out or Independence Day celebration this weekend. Unless your job is manning (or womanning) the grill, you’re in charge of bringing a dish to share. That is the standard, after all. But why just be standard, when you can show off a little? Bring something patriotic AND tasty! You can be sure to find an abundance of red, white, and blue side dishes, appetizers, and desserts on Pinterest. And as you might imagine, there are varying degrees of difficulty. For example, you could spend half your life on this beautiful but time-consuming layered flag cake (right), or you could bring a dish that’s equally crowd pleasing, delicious, and SIMPLE!
To start, we’re going to share a very simple, very patriotic Gordo’s Cheese Dip dish. Gordo’s Stars & Stripes Nachos is a simple way to bring red, white, blue and delicious to a July 4th BBQ near you. All it takes is a bag of blue corn tortilla chips, roasted red peppers (or habanero peppers if you’re feeling extra cheeky) and your favorite flavor of Gordo’s Cheese Dip. Heat Gordo’s according to instructions, drizzle over chips, and sprinke peppers evenly on top. You can accomplish the same color scheme by holding the red peppers and instead, placing a bowl of salsa in the middle for dipping.
For more simple, festive, and delicious Fourth of July dishes, we’ve scanned all of Pinterest (yes, all of it) to present to you our top five favorite recipes. Rest assured these recipes are easy, crowd-pleasing, and Chef Gordo’s approved.

Easy, healthy, and artistic to boot! What more could you ask for?
Sweet & salty. Need we say more? Bonus is that you don’t even have to pop your own corn — buy it prepopped and bagged! Talk about easy!
Did we say easy? What we meant was, so easy your cat could make it. But check out how cool they look! Plus, candy.
The cool factor is up there on this one. Whether or not you include a bottle of Vodka on the side is up to you, but your older guests might appreciate the thought. Just sayin.
Not your average salsa… this one contains blueberries! Perfectly paired with a side of your favorite tortilla chips and Gordo’s Cheese Dip, of course.
