Celebrate Notre Dame’s Great College Football Season with Gordo’s Cheese Dip!

Gordo’s Cheese Dip congratulates the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on their perfect season! After completing its first undefeated season in decades, this storied athletic program is on its way to the college football Championship on January 7th in Miami.

It’s been more 24 years since the Irish has been the big cheese of college football and with its nationwide fan base, there’s a very good possibility that there are more than a few Fighting Irish fans in your circle of friends. This can mean only one thing: It’s party time! The guests of honor are anyone who attended Notre Dame, loves the traditions of college football that the Irish represent, is Irish or has ever worn the color green or has ever heard the name Knute Rockne!

By the way, why are parents no longer naming their kids Knute? Now, that’s a FOOTBALL name.

Whether you live in Atlanta, Albuquerque or Altoona, college football has become the all-American pastime and when a school like Notre Dame gets a chance to win it all, it’s time to celebrate with Fighting Irish-themed party. There’s no real party without Gordo’s Cheese Dip.

Here are a few ideas to get your party started.

First, it doesn’t have to be a pre-game party for the BCS championship. You can have a “Fighting Irish are the Big Cheese” party at any time. It could be a Christmas party that needs a little more spice…A New Year’s Eve party that will have people forgetting about what they’re supposed to do at midnight…A party for no other reason than it’s good to toast the dumb (and probably dangerous) things you did in college.

You want to insist that a few of your smaller buddies come to the gig dressed as that silly Leprechaun mascot of the Fighting Irish. Just tell them that chicks love Leprechauns. It works every time.

You need a giant bowl of Gordo’s Cheese Dip that has the Notre Dame logo in the middle. You make this logo by getting a cake decorating squeeze tube, filling it with guacamole (or something else green) and squeeze out a replica of the “ND” logo. Don’t worry about it being perfect. Hey, people will be eating it as soon as the see it and the “ND” will be history in about 5 minutes. Put this bowl of Gordo’s in the middle of a football field table cloth (you can get this from any party store). Surround the Gordo’s Cheese Dip with as many chips as you can afford to buy!

Green beer (made with a little food coloring) is of course needed for the party.

Play the Cheesy Comment game. Every time a party-goer says something cheesy about Notre Dames, the Fighting Irish, college football or Knute Rockne, everyone gets to take a big dip of Gordo’s. Some typical cheesy comments include:
o We’re number one
o How ‘bout them Irish
o It’s gonna come down to the last set of downs
o Anything that Joe Theismann has ever said
o Others that you can come up with

Play the Fighting Irish Football Trivia game. Any alumnus of ND who happens to be in attendance is given the honor of being the Irish Trivia Master. He gets to wear one of the cheesy Leprechaun hats and a list of Notre Dame football trivia questions. He works the room, randomly selecting unsuspecting party goers and asks them trivia about great moments in Fighting Irish history. Those with the correct answers get a ND-themed party favor from the Trivia Master. There are literally thousands of weird trivia questions associated with the school. For example, (1) what were the names of the Four Horsemen of Notre Dame? (2) What college team did Joe Montana beat in the Cotton Bowl? Hint: This team had the Heisman winner that year. (3) Name all of the Heisman Trophy winners from ND (4) What was the nickname of former ND running back Jerome Bettis? (5) What former U.S. President appeared in the 1940 movie, “Knute Rockne All American?” (6) What are the words and tune of the Fighting Irish school song? And the list goes on.

A party with a Fighting Irish theme will celebrate the pomp and pageantry of college football which is one of the many things that makes this a great country. It’s also a perfectly good excuse to invite friends over and consume copious quantities of Gordo’s Cheese Dip!
